BLUE EARTH AREA SCHOOL BOARD PROCEEDINGS

NOVEMBER 20, 2017

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Blue Earth Area, I.S.D. #2860 was held on Monday, November 20, 2017, in Blue Earth, MN.

Present were School Board members: J. Coxworth, S. Hauskins, J. Haugh, F. Bly, S. Ripley, A. Patten and S. Benz. Also attending were Supt. Gough, principals, members of the press, staff and public.

The meeting was called to order in the Multi-Purpose gym at 5:30 p.m. by Chairman Bly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

On a Benz/Haugh motion, the Board approved the agenda.

Public Input:

Dale Hurley, Jacob Burgett, Perla Cardona, Jill Haken, Amy Ihle, Daren Barnett, Juan Cardona, Randy Olson, Courtney Waters, Abigail Yates, Eric Olson and Katie Mullaly addressed the Board regarding bullying in our district.

At 5:59 p.m. Chairman Bly called for a short recess to move the meeting to the district conference room.

The meeting reconvened in the district conference room at 6:07 p.m.

On a Coxworth/Haugh motion the Board approved the minutes from the October meeting as amended by A. Patten.

The Board approved seven money transfers in the amount of $1,494,216.25. Hauskins/Patten motion, with Coxworth abstaining.

Action Items:

The Board approved the Non-Certified Seniority List for 2017-2018 on a Ripley/Hauskins motion.

On a Benz/Coxworth motion the Board approved the Certified Seniority List for 2017-2018.

Melissa McGuire was approved to be the Designate LEA Representative for BEA School (Tile I) on a Haugh/Benz motion.

Personnel:

The following hires were approved on a Ripley/Hauskins motion:

Jonathan Loefke, Custodian

Garrett Whitesell, Custodian

Alesha Stauffer, Paraprofessional

At 7:21 p.m. Chairman Bly called for a short recess to allow Supt. Gough to give a radio interview.

At 7:29 p.m. the Board reconvened.

A motion to close the session for the Superintendent Evaluation was approved. Patton/Benz motion.

The Superintendent Evaluation was conducted.

At 9:22 p.m. a motion to adjourn the closed session was passed. Hauskins/Ripley motion.

At 9:23 p.m. the meeting was reopened on a Hauskins/Patten motion.

On a Hauskins/Patten motion, the meeting was adjourned at 9:23 p.m.
