You are looking at the Section 2A True Team winners for 2017, and they are all Blue Earth Area Bucs.

Both the boys and girls teams from BEA brought home the big "W" last Tuesday, May 9, as they competed in the Section 2A True Team meet, hosted by United South Central.

The BEA girls track team rocketed to the head of the pack, earning first place for the Section 2A True Team meet with a total of 622 points. Minnesota Valley Lutheran placed second with 574 points with Lake?Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial/Nicollet placing third with 549.5 points. Fourth place went to Maple River with 528.5 points and Martin County West earned fifth place with 522 points.

The rest of the scores are as follows: Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (475), Jackson County Central (466.5) Madelia/Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther (453), United South Central/ Alden-Conger (446), New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (380), Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (340.5), St. Clair (322.5), Loyola/Cleveland (263.5).

The girls had a good day with all of the relay teams placing either in third or fourth place and the continuous triumphs of a few individual competitions such as Melissa Hagedorn who, again, earned first place in both the 100 meter high hurdles (16.68) and the 300 meter low hurdles (49.04) as well as Lindsey Norman who earned first place in the shot put with a distance of 36-0.

Boys Results:

The Buccaneer boys earned first place with a True Team total of 613 points. LCWM/N placed second with 604 points, St. Clair earned third place with 602.5 points, JCC placed fourth with 543 points, and Loyola/Cleveland placed fifth with 540 points.

Seth Becker was the lone Buccaneer to place first at the meet during the 110 meter high hurdles competition. Becker placed first with a time of 42.48.

Sentinel Relays:

On Friday, May 5, in Fairmont, the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers track team had some big breakthroughs and powerful punches according to their head coach, Tom Plocker.

The girls team gave it their all, earning second place with 119 points for the meet. Fairmont placed first with 184 points, while Hutchinson earned third with 104 points, followed by LCWM/N earning fourth with 73 points and Minneapolis Edison earning 68 points for fifth.

Highlights of the meet included Nicole Lium earning first place in the high jump competition with a height of 5-0 and first in the pole vault with a height of 9-9.

Teammate Skylee Bell earned first place, too, in the long jump competition. Her distance was 15-2 1/4.

Not to mention each of BEA's relay teams earned either third or fourth place in every single one of their races, which helped with the team's total score.

The boys at the Sentinel Relays were able to place fifth with 65 points. Fairmont earned first with 163.5 points, Hutchinson earned second with 154 points, LCWM/N placed third with 113.5 points, and JCC beat BEA by one point for fourth place with 66 points.

Seth Becker was the lone first place winner at the Relays for BEA. His score in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 42.66 seconds, is what earned him first place in the competition.
